- SPF 60 is twice as effective as SPF 30. Not quite. You only get about 2 percent more protection from the sun when you switch from 30 to 60 and research shows people who slather on a higher SPF, often believe they do not have to reapply as often. Experts recommend choosing at least SPF 30 and reapplying each hour you are in the sun. If you are in the water, reapply more often.
- Pluck one gray hair and two more will grow in its place. Since only one hair can grow out of any follicle, it isnt likely that second gray hair will duplicating in the same spot. And, truthfully, your body isnt keep tabs. Gray hairs seem to multiply because they have a different texture than the rest of your hair coarse and wiry making it seem like they are popping up all over the place. Dying helps, but if you prefer to stay au natural, Denis DeSouza, colorist, told In Style that brushing a little coconut oil through your hair once a week after sharing will soften and blend those crazy gray strands.
- Greasy foods cause acne. You cant blame the grease for this one. Studies show that excess sugar, in all its forms, including carbohydrates, can cause cross-linking of collagen leaving skin dull and wrinkly. And, if your not quite at the age where wrinkles are a concern, Dr. Zeichner told In Style that foods with a high-glycemic index ranking have been shown to contribute to blemishes.
- Sipping lots of water will give you dewy skin. Staying hydrated is important to the overall health and functionality of your body, after all your body is 60 percent water, but it wont give you Cleopatras silky complexion. NYC dermatologist, Francesca Fusco told In Style, Deeply penetrating hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid attract and retain moisture in the top level of the skin. Thats the best way to achieve long-term dewiness. In Style recommends a weekly hydrating mask, like Rodial Dragons Blood Hyaluronic Mask.
